PMT Supports the Industry’s Digital Transformation at the 6th Portuguese BIM Congress

As a sponsor of the event, PMT followed the debate on the new National BIM Strategy, which was opened by the Secretary of State for Housing.

The construction sector in Portugal is undergoing a historic turning point, and PMT has been at the forefront. From June 16 to 19, we were present at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto as official sponsors of the 6th Portuguese BIM Congress (PTBIM 2026), the leading forum for technical and scientific discussion on this methodology in the Portuguese-speaking world.

This year’s edition took on renewed significance due to the recent publication of the National Strategy for the Implementation of BIM in Portugal. This document represents a decisive milestone for the modernization of the industry, focusing on digitization, public procurement, and the improvement of design, construction, and asset management processes.

Institutional Support and a Vision for the Future

The congress’s opening session was presided over by the Secretary of State for Housing, Patrícia Gonçalves Costa, who brought together representatives from the technical, academic, professional, and business communities. In her remarks, the official emphasized that the PortugalBIM strategy is based on fundamental pillars such as public policies, standardization, technologies, and capacity building, with the goal of making this methodology standard practice throughout the country.

“We are at the beginning of a demanding journey, but one that is also extraordinarily inspiring. A journey that requires a shift in mindset, but one that will allow us to build better, with higher quality and greater responsibility toward future generations,” stated Patrícia Gonçalves Costa.

The Impact of BIM on the Global Market

The growing importance of digital representation of building elements is bringing about profound changes throughout the value chain. Following the success of previous editions, PTBIM 2026 has established itself as the premier forum for discussing the rapid evolution of BIM maturity levels on an international scale and the new legal framework governing the sector.

By actively participating in this ecosystem, PMT reinforces its position as a cutting-edge partner, prepared to meet the demands of an increasingly digital, transparent, and sustainable market.

We thank the PTBIM 2026 organizers for the excellent event and all the professionals who shared their vision for the future of construction with us.
